These are my photos of diet soda. This assignment was interesting to say the least. The problem wit getting these pictures were finding someone that was actually drinking it.  Then, getting them to actually drink it and not pose or shy away from the camera. The one person that didn't shy away from the camera I got vertical pictures instead of horizontal. I had someone that was willing to go get a diet soda so I could get pictures. Part of the problem with the assignment was the girl that made it didn't exactly know whether it was for online or not. I really like the vertical ones with them being opened, but they're vertical. I was really happy that I didn't need to use a flash because I was getting pictures by the big window. I really love how the only thing in focus is the can and the hand.

These are the pictures from the Texas vs. Arkansas football game. Going into this game I was really nervous because this was the first time shooting football, especially the field. I knew that this was a big game and I didn't want to completely mess it up. I spent the whole night trying to get the settings and position right. At the beginning of the game I wasn't using flash because I didn't need it and I was also nervous about using it. In the beginning of using the flash I had no idea what to do. In the beginning I had it set to et and high sync speed, but I didn't have it in the exactly right settings. I can't remember off the top of my head what Smith changed the flash too, but I would know it if I saw it. Then at the beginning of using the flash I had the power to high, so I was catching all the dust. Then I talked to another student and she helped me figure out the fact that my flash was to high. I had to mess with the flash a little bit until I got it set at the right strength.  Then I really had to work on my timing. Some pictures I got mad about because the Arkansas player would be in focus and ours would be behind him. I felt better knowing that a support system was there with me, that there were people there that knew a lot more than I did. I learned a lot about how to shoot football by messing up.

These are my pictures from the pep-rally of Texas-Arkansas week. When looking back on my pictures, on the first picture my teacher realized it was to dark. Then I went back and brightened the blacks to get this picture. I am still experimenting with drum-line pictures because I have a vision of a picture. I really don't know how to describe the picture I want. I want the drumsticks to show motion and the facial expression to be intense but also, I don't know not smiling but cheerful. The drill team performance was hard to get pictures of because to get the action part of it you have to try and shoot around the football players. I have some but they aren't really good. I have found that shooting color guard is really hard. Part of my problem is I don't really have the timing down, so I'll get a picture with the flag in their face. Also the football players are also in the way during this, so you have to be careful to cut them off at the right spot. Other than that I feel kind of exited over the pictures because they turned out better than I thought they would.

These are the pictures from hog supper. I did not enjoy this. Being constantly surrounded by boys was not enjoyable. At the beginning of the assignment I was kind of confused on what exactly they wanted. Then trying to get pictures of people in the line was difficult because they were all looking down. When I got down low, I wound up getting pictures of behinds from the cheerleaders. I hate how some of the pictures were darker because of the darker skinned people. I realize looking back now that I should have brought up my blacks on the pictures with black people because they are just dark. I was happy that I didn't need a flash because up until recently I didn't really know how to shoot with a flash.

These are the pictures from the soul meeting. I had mixed emotions about shooting this assignment. They wanted pictures of them in prayer. I felt really disrespectful getting pictures while people are praying because prayer is a persons time to themselves; not be invaded by some person with a camera. It just felt weird getting pictures because they are reading out of a bible, but I'm getting pictures. People just kept looking at us trying to figure out why we were there. All in all though it was a good experience. The hard part was trying to make sure people didn't get in the shot because they were standing in a circle. The photos were a little underexposed but not to bad. I felt really nervous about taking the pictures of 1/80. I always tend to get nervous shooting so slow because the motion aspect worries me. Every time I tend to shoot slower a movement blurs the picture. I tried to use a flash, but it made the pictures look really weird. The light just seemed to highlight the whites but not touch the blacks.

These are the photos for the no snack line assignment. This assignment really didn't have any details to it. I took a wild guess and got some that had no people at the line and some with people at the line. I really wish that there was more detail to the assignment because there really isn't anything to it. There was never something that made me have to stop and think about the assignment. I really wish that I could have gotten a shot looking dead on at the snack bar so I could have the window with the words above it. However, the spot was not deep enough for it. I really hate that our whole school has to be orange. The last picture still looks orange even though I white balanced it. Also all the orange makes anything white look orangish.  I'm really confused on why we had to get pictures for no snack line when there is obviously still a snack line. Also the angle I was shooting at was just weird because even if it is straight it still looks off.

These are the pictures of the Dracula call board assignment. This was a relatively easy assignment. I really wish that there wasn't so much going on with the call board, but that's what's the photo assignment was for. I like that there really wasn't a focus on a person. I don't like the fact that I got a bright spot from the door. These pictures are okay, but I just don't't necessarily like taking these pictures because there isn't much to them.

These are the pictures from watermelon supper. The pictures from in the gym were dark, so when I made them brighter they became very pixely. I had a flash for the pictures in the gym.  I had it set it on ettl mode and had a high sync speed, like a fellow photographer told me would work best. I really wish that the pictures were brighter. This is when I decided I hated gyms and loved taking pictures outside. The pictures from outside are definitely better.  I really liked the lighting outside other than the fact that some of my pictures had a glow from the sun on them. I wasn't able to get a lot of pictures of people eating watermelon because I didn't know who for sure was a high school student. This definitely did better here than I did at the PG volleyball game.

These are the pictures of the volleyball game at PG. I am really disappointed in these pictures. I was so nervous going in about messing up that I did. I had a flash but it wasn't set to the right settings. I feel that the low lighting of their gym didn't help my photos at all. Also, I realized that I need to work on my timing with any sport. I had okay timing but the ball was just off in mid-air instead of at the peak of action. I want to shoot another volleyball game to improve on my skills. I really messed up on these pictures, I am disappointed in myself with these. I know I can do better then that. Part of my problem was I really didn't know where I was supposed to be. I needed to shoot the people's faces, but I didn't really want to shoot through the net.  Part of my problem was I didn't exactly know where I was allowed to go.  I also learned that I really need to learn about the sports I'm going to be shooting so I don't get confused. These pictures are so bad I don't really know what to say about them.
