This is the successful photo-merge. The background is over exposed, but I'm happy that it actually worked. I know that the subject is a little fuzzy, but I realized that too late. I wish I had a better background other than the stairs. I really want to shoot more of these because they are fun to do, once you know how to do it. It took me a while, but I finally figured it out with help.

This is my first near success of the photo-merge. I know it cut of her eyes and top of her head. I know the background isn't blurry and my subject is kind of leaned. This was just a trial run to actually get the photos to merge properly. Now I get to go back and actually shoot t with a blurry background.

I don't really have a picture for today's blog. I was working on taking multiple images and blending them together. Mine did't turn out so well. Two of the photos blended but the rest didn't. I know that I shook a little and I a gave too much wiggle room. I know now that a steadier hand and less wiggle room will be better. I will go out and re-shoot this, and this time I will get it right. The photos were a little underexposed, due to the lack of attention I payed to my histogram. I was more focused on not messing up, and guess what I did. Now that I know the things I need to do I will go do them.

This is my third attempt at overpowering the sun. This time is not as good as the second time. Her face in a little under exposed and her hair at the roots is over exposed. The background is also brighter than the foreground. I really don't know what else to do to get it right. Now I have to sit and think about how to fix this. This is a really short blog but I don't know what to say.

These are more pictures of the flash beating the sun. I think I may have it now. The flash has to be in front of the person without being in the picture. The first picture was the spark of the idea. She just happened to turn toward the flash, so it caught her whole face. Then it was just a matter of getting the settings right to properly expose it. The first picture had a perfect histogram. The other ones didn't have a good histogram. It never gets in the last quadrant of it. The third picture, the one with the lowest shutter speed, is overexposed a little on her face and hair. The reason it is overexposed and the first is not is because the sun was actually hitting her face and not her back like in the first one. The last one is also a little overexposed on her face. I'm confused on how the background is still a little blurry even with the aperture. I figure the space between the background and the subject. Overall I feel really happy with these photos.

These are my hot seat practice pictures. I was trying the technique of overpowering the sun with off camera flash. I kind of figured it out, but I don't think it is done right. The last ones of the first girl are the best I took. I started out with the subject farther away from the flash then moved them closer by the end, using the light from the flash more. The problem to get the histogram to look right was make the aperture smaller, which made the background in focus. The flash was set at 1/2 power. I still need to work on overpowering the sun with flash. I'm really not happy with these images because I don't think I did them right. The last pictures are the first ones I took farther away from the flash. The first ones were closer to the flash. For the hot seat project I still need to work on a lot of different places with the flash, so I can get used with to being in different places.

These are my pictures from Garvin Gardens. When I took the pictures I was trying to figure out why they were half lit. I believe that my shutter speed was too fast to capture all the light. Then when I slowed the shutter speed down it captured all the light. I still am not positive that the shutter speed speed is the problem. Therefore next year I will figure out the problem before I go back next year. The second pictures have the slower shutter speed. The first are the ones with a faster shutter speed. There is definitely a big difference between the two.

These are the painting with light pictures I took over Christmas break. I got bored so this is what happened. I used a little flashlight and a pen that lights up and changes colors.  The ones with the bottle were really just experimenting with how the pen light would look.  I wanted to try and use the different colors in the background. The first and third picture are underexposed because I didn't let the light stay there long enough. The cup was a christmas mug that was clear. I used the solid colors first before I thought about making a different light in the middle to show the Christmas tree better. The one with the blue and red is my favorite, probably because they are my favorite colors. I really feel happy about these pictures.  I really want to do some more interesting creative with light pictures.
